The Role at a Glance This position provides legal and regulatory interpretation, consistent with the direction of Legal and/or Regulatory Compliance, drafting and state filing of Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity contract forms. Provide in-depth product compliance, technical advice and direction for changes in State/Federal, NAIC regulations or Interstate Insurance Product Regulatory Commission (IIPRC) Uniform Standards impacting Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity contract forms. What you'll be doing:
Legal and Regulatory Compliance Monitors, analyzes and provides compliant solutions to legal and regulatory affecting contractual language and disclosure content as communicated by Legal and Regulatory Compliance. Collaborates with internal/external legal counsel and industry experts on interpretation of new regulations and law changes and their impact to Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity contract forms. Serves as the subject matter expert in drafting and securing internal & state approval of new and revised Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity contract forms in response to product development activities and changes to the Uniform Standards of the IIPRC or State and Federal laws and regulations. Researches and provides direction for the implementation of revised Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity forms resulting from regulatory changes. Directs and supports the delivery of Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity contract form information as requested by internal customers, market conduct exams, complaints, etc. Contract Drafting and Negotiation Reviews and interprets Individual Variable and Fixed Annuity product specifications in order to draft contract forms that meet product requirements. Serves as a subject matter expert in product design and filing requirements discussions with product, actuarial, implementation, legal, compliance and state regulatory or IIPRC personnel. Directs and specifies project activity to support regulatory changes and product calendar deliverables. Drafts and secures internal approval of contract forms, then submits for necessary state insurance department and/or IIPRC approvals. Negotiates with Senior Management, product, implementation, legal, compliance, actuarial and state regulatory or IIPRC personnel to resolve any issues relevant to securing state approval of forms and rates, or to revise products or procedures for compliance with related State and Federal laws and regulations or Uniform Standards of the IIPRC. Implements and controls approval and availability of related contract production print. Participate in various industry association meetings (eg:
LHCA, AICP) as a representative of the Department. Evaluate and answer questions in relation to the interpretation of contract provisions as requested by internal and external customers. What we're looking for:
4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's). 5
years experience in Insurance Industry and Compliance. Prior experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this role preferred but not required. 5
years experience using SERFF and INSource (Preferred).
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Auditing & ComplianceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
